A work by Tago Tazvitya, a self-taught Shona sculptor from Chegutu, Mashonaland, Zimbabwe. Born in 1954, Tazvitya was inspired by the renowned “first generation” sculptor John Takawira and has worked as a full-time artist since 1978. This finely carved piece exemplifies the expressive, organic forms characteristic of contemporary Shona stone sculpture.
