This elegant porcelain vase is a signed studio work by Guo Mingben (郭明本, b. 1956), a respected Taiwanese ceramic artist from Yingge, the historic center of ceramics in Taiwan.

The vase features Guo’s signature manganese seven-color crystalline glaze, created through a complex multi-stage firing process. Rich in iron and manganese, the glaze produces a striking iridescent surface with shifting tones of blue, green, gold, and violet. Under changing light, the surface reveals metallic crystalline formations with a pearlescent, almost oil-slick effect—each piece is visually unique.

The form is compact and well balanced, measuring approximately 16 cm in height, making it ideal for display on a shelf, console, or cabinet. The vase is hand-signed on the base by the artist and is presented with a fitted wooden display stand, emphasizing its role as a decorative art object rather than a utilitarian vessel.

Guo Mingben is known for his technical research into crystalline and manganese glazes and has exhibited widely in Taiwan and Japan. His works are held in institutional collections, including the Yingge Ceramics Museum, and are sought after by collectors of contemporary Asian studio ceramics.
